Lead physical performance coach

Ruben Peeters followed Arne Slot to Liverpool FC from Feyenoord in the summer of 2024, taking up the position of lead physical performance coach.

Peeters had worked with new Reds head coach Slot at Feyenoord for the previous three years, during which the Eredivisie club lifted the Dutch league title and KNVB Cup.

The Belgian, who holds a master’s degree in sports sciences from KU Leuven in his home country, served as head of performance at Feyenoord having joined in 2021.

“[He] is going to help me and the club with the way we are working on the physical side,” explained Slot of Peeters’ appointment at Anfield.

“Us three [Slot, Peeters and Sipke Hulshoff] have worked together at Feyenoord for three years now and we know how we want to work, which is normal.”

Peeters previously worked at KRC Genk across a six-year period.

He began as a physical coach at the Belgian outfit’s youth academy in 2015, working with a variety of age groups for a little more than two years.

Ruben then stepped up to first-team responsibilities with Genk in 2017, as a physical coach, and was part of the staff for successes that included the Pro League title (2018-19) and Belgian cup (2021).
