Fabian Otte
Head of first-team goalkeeper coaching
Fabian Otte joined Liverpool FC as head of first-team goalkeeper coaching in July 2024.
He arrived on Merseyside as part of Arne Slot’s backroom staff from the USA national team following their involvement in the Copa America.
Otte, a German national, gathered a wealth of experience in his coaching career prior to joining the Reds, including a previous spell in England in the Premier League with Burnley.
He combined his work with the USMNT, which he began in September 2023, with his role as first-team goalkeeping coach at Borussia Monchengladbach.
Otte held that position at the Bundesliga club for three seasons ahead of taking up the position with the United States on a full-time basis.
His time as assistant goalkeeping coach with the Clarets came during the 2020-21 campaign, while Otte has also previously worked as U23/academy goalkeeper coach at TSG 1899 Hoffenheim and head of goalkeeping for the New Zealand women’s national team.
He holds a UEFA Goalkeeping A Licence and has also served as a coaching educator and lecturer for the German Football Association (DFB) and the Oceania Football Confederation.
A former goalkeeper himself, Otte has a PhD in skill acquisition training in modern football goalkeeping from the German Sport University Cologne, along with various other degrees.
