Leanne Kiernan's prolific first season with Liverpool FC Women helped inspire the team to the FA Women's Championship title.

Signed from West Ham United by Matt Beard in June 2021, Kiernan scored 14 goals to fire the Reds to a return to the Barclays Women's Super League.

The Republic of Ireland international was also crowned Liverpool FC Women's Standard Chartered Player of the Season for 2021-22 and signed a new contract with the club in September 2022.

"This is a thrilling moment for me and my family, and a really exciting time. I think this club is kind of like home for me," said the forward, who can also play as a winger.

"People know that if life's good outside of football you get to perform better on the pitch. I really like the people, I really like the place, and the girls are great around me. I couldn't have won any awards without them."

Kiernan - who began her career with Shelbourne in her homeland, where she was a league and cup winner - sustained a long-term ankle injury in the opening WSL game of 2022-23.

After returning from a lengthy absence, the No.9 ended 2023-24 in fantastic form, netting a crucial goal in the 4-3 win over Chelsea and then emerging off the bench to fire a last day hat-trick at Leicester City as the Reds secured a top-four finish in the WSL.
