See our pick of the interesting statistics to know about Liverpool’s Premier League clash with Southampton on Saturday.

The table-topping Reds will be aiming to add another three points to their tally when they host Saints in a 3pm GMT kick-off at Anfield.

Read on for some key facts and figures related to the match…

Liverpool have won 11 of their last 13 Premier League games against Southampton, with the exceptions being a 1-0 loss in January 2021 and a 4-4 draw in May 2023, both at St Mary’s.

The Reds have scored at least twice in 25 of their league fixtures this season, at least 10 more than any other side. It’s the highest percentage of games (89 per cent) any team has scored multiple goals across a single campaign in the competition.

Mohamed Salah has scored or assisted a goal in 12 of Liverpool’s 13 Premier League matches at Anfield this season, including each of his last 11 in a row.

Salah needs to score once in this game to equal Ian Rush’s club record of 10 league goals against Southampton.

Saints’ last league victory at Anfield came in September 2013, when future Reds defender Dejan Lovren scored a 54th-minute winner.

Dominik Szoboszlai has applied more pressures (677) than any other Reds player in the top flight this season.

Arne Slot’s side are unbeaten in 24 Premier League games (17 wins, seven draws), now the third-longest run in the club’s top-flight history, behind runs of 31 games from May 1987 to March 1988 and 44 from January 2019 to February 2020.

Southampton have lost just two of their last seven Premier League games against sides starting the day top of the table (won two, drawn three), scoring at least once in all of those matches.

The last time Saints faced the Premier League’s leaders away from home they became the first side in the competition’s history to sit bottom and score three goals away from home against a team starting the day top of the table (3-3 draw at Arsenal in April 2023).

Liverpool have won each of their last seven matches against Southampton at Anfield in all competitions, conceding just a single goal in the last eight.

Only Thierry Henry in 2002-03 (20) has assisted more goals from open play in a single Premier League campaign than Salah’s 17 so far this season.

Salah has had a hand in 13 goals across his 12 Premier League appearances against Southampton (nine goals, four assists), netting a brace against them in the reverse fixture in November.

Diogo Jota, meanwhile, has five goal involvements in his last three league appearances versus Saints (four goals, one assist).

The Reds are seeking a fourth successive clean sheet in all competitions in the same season for the first time since April 2022.

Ivan Juric will be the sixth different man in charge of a Southampton team against Liverpool in the last seven matches.

This will be the fourth time in Premier League history both meetings between two sides have been as the top and bottom side in the division, after Manchester United v Swindon Town (1993-94) and Chelsea v Sunderland twice (2005-06 and 2016-17).

The 58 points between Liverpool (67) and Southampton (nine) coming into this match is the biggest points difference between two sides ahead of a Premier League meeting since July 2020 when the Reds (86) beat Aston Villa (27) 2-0 at Anfield.

The Reds have played 22 times before on March 8, last winning in 2008 when they beat Newcastle United 3-0 at Anfield.
