LFC pays respects on 36th anniversary of Hillsborough tragedy
Tributes were paid across Liverpool Football Club on Tuesday to mark the 36th anniversary of the disaster at Hillsborough.
On April 15, 1989, the tragedy at the FA Cup semi-final between the Reds and Nottingham Forest led to 97 supporters being unlawfully killed.
They will never be forgotten.
On Tuesday morning, coaches and captains from the club’s men’s, women’s, U21s and U18s teams laid wreaths at the Hillsborough Memorial at Anfield, alongside chief legal officer Jonathan Bamber and ambassadors Natasha Dowie and Ian Rush.

The men’s, women’s and Academy squads each observed a minute’s silence before their training sessions, and the whole club fell silent at 3.06pm, the time at which the match in 1989 was stopped.
At Anfield, 97 biodegradable balloons were released after the club-wide silence, in honour of the children, women and men who died in the disaster.
Flags were flown at half-mast at LFC sites. The Anfield retail store closed at 1pm and museum and stadium tours access ceased at the same time.
