NewsJayden Danns wins FA Cup 'Baller of the Round' award
Jayden Danns has won the Emirates FA Cup 'Baller of the Round' award.
The Liverpool striker received the accolade in recognition of his superb performance against Southampton in round five, which saw him score twice in a 3-0 win at Anfield.
‘Baller of the Round’ is awarded to the outstanding young player in each round of the competition, in association with Rising Ballers.
Danns, who on Friday signed a new long-term contract with the Reds, said: “Honestly, it’s unreal. Probably a month ago I wouldn’t be thinking I’d even step on Anfield so to get [the award] is a good feeling.”
The 18-year-old has enjoyed an incredible start to life in Liverpool’s senior squad and, just days prior to his Kop-end strikes against Saints, he had come off the bench in the Carabao Cup final victory at Wembley.
“Honestly, it’s like a blur,” Danns added.
“I think it was U7s that I came [to the club], so to go through the whole journey and see the players who have come up with me, there’s been [Lewis] Koumas who has been sat on the bench with me and he’s been here since he was 10 or something like that.
“So, to be doing it with him is just mad, it’s crazy. Honestly, it’s an unreal feeling.”
