InterviewWhy Jarell Quansah has been dreaming about the Carabao Cup final

The centre-half played in four of the Reds' five fixtures in the competition on the way to today's Wembley showpiece with Chelsea.

And the Academy graduate has briefly allowed himself to imagine the emotions he'll feel if he's handed another opportunity to feature by Jürgen Klopp.

"It's going to be the best feeling," Quansah told Liverpoolfc.com. "I've already had dreams about it and sometimes when I think about it by myself, I get butterflies.

"I'm just so excited for it. It's a great opportunity for us to try to win a trophy and do the best we can."

Quansah is currently in the midst of his breakthrough season with Liverpool at senior level, with 19 appearances to his name so far in all competitions.

Throw back to 12 months ago, the 21-year-old was gathering his first taste of men's football during a productive loan spell at Bristol Rovers in League One.

On his progress, Quansah reflected: "It's crazy. I've just been told that a year ago on [the day of] the final I'd just played against Oxford City away for Bristol Rovers in League One.

"Coming from there and doing what we're doing now, it's a special thing and hopefully we can win. It'll be a special achievement.

"You always look at Wembley and there's 90,000 fans. It's definitely something you look forward to, you want to play in front of.

"I was at the final when Liverpool won it last, seeing what it means to the fans and hearing One Kiss and everything like this. It was special and hopefully we can recreate that."

Quansah is aware how chances to lift silverware can be few and far between in a player's career.

Therefore, he's determined to do everything possible so that he has a winner's medal in his possession come this evening.

"There's not loads of opportunities you get to win trophies," he said. "Say an average career is 15 years, that's 15 chances to win the Carabao Cup and it's not many.

"Any opportunity you get, you've got to take it with both hands, and that's exactly what we're going to try to do."

The No.78 continued: "In this group, you can feel there's a lot of hunger. We want to win trophies. Just getting to the final won't be enough for us. We really do want to win it and there's a lot of belief there that we can.

"We know it's going to be a tough game and everything like that, but there's a lot of strong personalities here.

"For me to win a final in my first season, that [would] be great. A lot of players have come [in] this year and for them to win it in their first season will be unbelievable as well.

"There's a lot of personal motivation and a lot of team motivation as well."
