Jarell Quansah is a stylish centre-half who emerged from the youth ranks and broke into the Liverpool FC senior set-up during the 2023-24 season.

Quansah, from Warrington, joined the club's Academy at the age of five and he signed a first professional deal with the Reds in February 2021.

The defender captained the U18s team to the FA Youth Cup final in 2021 and, as well as subsequently featuring regularly for the U21s and in the UEFA Youth League, during the 2021-22 season Jarell was twice an unused substitute for the senior side under Jürgen Klopp.

He ended that campaign by playing a major role as England won the UEFA U19 European Championship, participating in every game at the tournament, scoring in the semi-finals and providing a crucial assist in the final as the Young Lions beat Israel 3-1.

The defender further bolstered his experience by making 16 appearances in League One during a loan spell with Bristol Rovers that began in January 2023, and he agreed fresh terms with Liverpool in May of the same year.

Quansah took a big step in his progress during 2023-24, starting with a senior debut for the Reds in the August as a substitute in the 2-1 comeback win at Newcastle United.

In the remainder of a truly breakthrough season he clocked up a total of 33 games, scored three goals and earned a Carabao Cup winner's medal.

In the early phases of the next campaign, with Arne Slot now installed as Liverpool head coach, Jarell put pen to paper on a new long-term contract in October 2024.
