InternationalsTakumi Minamino's Japan qualify for World Cup with win over Australia
Takumi Minamino's Japan qualified for the 2022 World Cup after beating Australia 2-0 on Thursday.
A late double from Kaoru Mitoma secured automatic qualification for Japan in the Asian section of qualifying.
Minamino started the Group B affair in Sydney and nearly scored the opening goal with a header that struck the woodwork twice.
He was then taken off in the 84th minute – just prior to Mitoma's brace.
Japan are next in action on Tuesday when they face Vietnam.
