PreviewThe run-in: Mohamed Salah aiming for second Premier League Playmaker award
Liverpool's No.11 has won the honour – which was introduced during the 2017-18 campaign – once in his Reds career to date.
That came in 2021-22 when he claimed the award with 13 assists to his name.
Salah has already surpassed that mark and currently sits on 17 this term from his 29 league appearances, which is already more than every previous winner barring one (Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne in 2019-20).
His competition for this season's trophy comes in the form of a trio who all sit seven behind his tally on 10 assists apiece.
Brentford's Mikkel Damsgaard, Fulham's Antonee Robinson and Arsenal's Bukayo Saka have all hit double digits so far, while Manchester United's Bruno Fernandes and Tottenham Hotspur's Son Heung-min (both nine) are next on the list.
Anthony Elanga of Nottingham Forest and Jacob Murphy of Newcastle United have gathered eight each.
Ollie Watkins is the current holder of the prize following his 13 assists for Aston Villa last season, while De Bruyne has won the honour the most of any player, taking it home on three occasions since its inception.
Salah's previous claiming of the award is the only time Liverpool have had a player win the trophy.
The 32-year-old has registered 85 assists in total for Reds in the top flight; only Steven Gerrard (92) has more in club history.
