NewsRanel Young in profile: Get to know the Liverpool forward
Get to know Ranel Young after the 18-year-old was tonight named in the senior Liverpool squad for the first time.
The attacker, who can play on the flanks or as a central striker, joined the Reds as an U12 from Huddersfield Town.
After progressing through the age groups in Kirkby, he was a first-year scholar with the U18s in 2022-23 and gained experience in the FA Youth Cup and UEFA Youth League that season.
In the final month of that campaign – May 2023 – Young put pen to paper on his first professional contract with Liverpool.
He continued with the U18s last term and then stepped up to Barry Lewtas’ U21s squad for the current season, scoring twice in Premier League 2 so far.
Young has also started all three Youth League fixtures for the U19s in 2024-25 and netted the opening goal in a 2-1 win over Bologna earlier this month.
And he now gets his first experience at senior level having been named on the bench by Arne Slot for the Carabao Cup tie at Brighton & Hove Albion, wearing No.82.
