There were 1-0 victories for Leighton Clarkson, who started Aberdeen’s win over Dundee United, Marcelo Pitaluga, keeper of a clean sheet as Macclesfield FC beat Trafford, and Anderson Arroyo, who helped Alaves overcome Lleida.

Full-backs Conor Bradley and Owen Beck both featured in Bolton Wanderers’ goalless stalemate with Cambridge United. Bradley started the League One match, with Beck introduced late on from the bench.

Tyler Morton and Rhys Williams each suffered defeat while playing 90 minutes in the Championship, however. Morton’s Blackburn Rovers lost 3-0 to Burnley, while Williams’ Blackpool were defeated 2-1 at Wigan Athletic.

Elsewhere, Fidel O’Rourke started Caernarfon Town’s 2-1 reverse to TNS and Jack Bearne came on as a substitute as Kidderminster Harriers were beaten 3-0 by King’s Lynn Town.
