AcademyLiverpool U21s beaten in pre-season tie at Porto B
Liverpool U21s continued their pre-season preparations as a youthful line-up lost 5-1 against FC Porto's B team on Sunday afternoon.
Layton Stewart was the goalscorer for the young Reds – who kick off the Premier League 2 campaign at home to Manchester City next Sunday – in a contest that was played in Portugal.
“We had a young team out and they actually played really well, and created some good chances to score more,” U21s boss Barry Lewtas told Liverpoolfc.com.
“It was a great experience for the younger players in the team to come over here to Portugal and we can definitely take positives from it. A special thanks to FC Porto, who gave us a great welcome.”
