ClubLiverpool FC supports city's Pride celebrations

This year marks 12 years of LFC staff and fans coming together to march in solidarity with the LGBT+ community. LFC was the first Premier League club to participate in a Pride march, back in 2012.

The LCR Pride Foundation’s annual Pride in Liverpool march, which will take place on Saturday July 27, is part of a full programme of activities taking place around the city from a festival of performances to a series of fringe events.

For the weekend of Pride (July 27-28), the club will switch over to its rainbow graphics, displaying the colours of the progressive Pride flag across its social platforms to reflect its support for all things Pride.

LFC’s Pride celebrations are part of its Red Together campaign, which demonstrates the club’s commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion. Throughout July and August, the club will host a range of activities for staff and fans to come together and express their allyship.

LFC Foundation will also be hosting its annual Pride tournament next month, which this year will welcome 18 teams to compete in three fun and competitive tournaments at the Academy in Kirkby.

For this year’s Pride, the club has added a number of new items to its popular Pride range, including a reusable bag, bracelet and flag. Other items featured in the Pride collection include scarves, clothing and souvenirs, with a percentage of the proceeds from the collection donated to local LGBT+ charities that the club is supporting as part of its LGBT+ colleague network and Red Together campaign.

Last year, £7,000 was raised from the club’s Pride range, which will be donated to two local charities – the Michael Causer Foundation and the Young Person’s Advisory Service (YPAS) – to help support more young people. The LFC Pride range is available in-store, at our online store and via the LFC Store app.

Rishi Jain, director of impact at LFC, who is responsible for leading The Red Way, the club’s approach to sustainability across three pillars – people, planet, communities – said: “We have been showing our support for Pride in Liverpool and beyond for 12 years, it’s a staple in our calendar and one which we always look forward to celebrating with our staff and fans.

“This month and next we have a range of fantastic events for both our colleagues and fans in the local community to get involved in to show their colours and support for Pride.

“Through our Red Together campaign, we are committed to promoting equality, diversity and inclusion, and demonstrating our support to the LGBT+ community is a big part of that. It is important for us as a club to use our platform to highlight important issues that continue to impact the lives of the LGBT+ community and make football a welcoming place for everyone.”
