Liverpool FC Women manager Matt Beard has provided a squad injury update ahead of Sunday’s meeting with Crystal Palace.

The Reds return to St Helens Stadium to host the Eagles in a 2pm BST kick-off that follows the late 2-1 defeat by Manchester City at Anfield last weekend.

Olivia Smith opened the scoring in that game before having to go off injured at half-time, but the Canada forward is set to be available.

“Smithy is fine now after coming off at half-time,” Beard told Liverpoolfc.com.

“She got a whack on the back in the box and then when she got caught after her strike for the goal, it just jarred her back again and she was then uncomfortable at a point to run, so we needed to see the bigger picture and it was just one of those unfortunate things.

“She trained partly on Wednesday and will be in full training tomorrow [Friday] and available for Sunday.”

Elsewhere, midfielder Ceri Holland and defender Grace Fisk are each making positive progress in their fitness recoveries, Beard explained.

“Ceri Holland will be back training with the group on Friday and Fisky is also back in training, but we will play it by ear with her,” he said.

“Unders [Chris Underwood] has done a great job with Fisky because of how tender her foot was, so he has done a lot of work on other areas to get her up to speed.

“We’ll assess her in the next 48 hours to see whether she can make the squad.”
