NewsKolo Toure provides detailed analysis of Jürgen Klopp's management style
Toure was an experienced figure in the Liverpool squad when Klopp took over in the Anfield dugout in October 2015.
The manager's impact was immediate, according to Toure, as he implemented his plan to put the team and club on a path to success again.
Reliving that period on the latest episode of LFCTV's Extra Time, Toure said: "I think the way Jürgen manages, he manages teams with a lot of energy.
"He wants the players to work and to work really hard, to run really, really hard. The first season was really, really difficult for most of the players – including me – because every session was high intensity.
"I really enjoyed the way he managed the players individually. Even players who don't start the game, they love him because he gave them the respect, he gave them the support."
The Reds reached the finals of the League Cup and Europa League during Klopp's first season in charge, though both ultimately ended in heartbreak.
Toure, who made 71 appearances for the club between 2013 and 2016 after arriving on a free transfer, remembers the boss' unique way of getting his squad to move on from disappointment.
The 42-year-old continued: "After we lost the Europa League, we were all really sad, losing against Sevilla, but after the game the way he carried himself, I think that was the key moment.
"We had a party after the game. No-one wanted to do anything because we were all down. At one point we all saw him on the dancefloor, he started dancing and went to each of us to bring us on the dancefloor to dance.
"This guy's mentality is all about the next game, it's all about the next challenge. As long as you give everything, he will always back you up, always give you the support. For me that was incredible. He was such a positive man.
"As you know, football is so tough and you go through tough times. You just need to think about the next day."
