Reaction'I'm very happy and proud' - Mo Salah reacts to scoring 50 European goals for Liverpool
It was a satisfying night for Mohamed Salah after his 50th European goal for Liverpool helped the team clinch a spot in the last 16 of the Champions League.
The Egyptian became the first player in the club's history to reach a half-century of strikes in Europe by opening the scoring in the 2-1 victory over Lille at Anfield on Tuesday.
The Reds' all-time leading scorer in European competitions reached the milestone by adding the finishing touch to a Curtis Jones through ball in the 34th minute.
Asked about his reaction to achieving the feat, Salah told Amazon Prime Video: "Hopefully [I'm] not the last one but it's something I'm very happy and proud about – and especially because we won the game, so that's the most important thing."
Harvey Elliott ensured Arne Slot's side made it seven wins from seven in the league phase when he stepped off the bench at half-time and produced the decisive goal.
Jonathan David had equalised for Lille not long after they had been reduced to 10 men, but Elliott's deflected effort in front of the Kop sent the Ligue 1 outfit to their first defeat in 22 matches.
"I'm happy for him, I'm always there to help him," Salah said of the match-winner. "He's a great lad and always tries to give his best – sometimes [he plays] five minutes, today he had 45 minutes. He was great, so I'm happy for him.
"I think when you want to win a big tournament, you have to have a big squad. We have a good one at the moment, so hopefully we carry on like that."
On the game, the No.11 continued: "They [Lille] have a really good game plan, I think they were unbeaten for 21 games, so it's a tough team and they showed that in the first half and second half.
"I will give them credit but I'm glad that we managed to win the game."
