ReactionHow Olivia Smith's Anfield goals were made '10 times better'
Olivia Smith's incredible night at Anfield in Liverpool FC Women's win over Manchester United was made even more special by those in attendance.
Smith netted the first and third goal of the Reds' brilliant 3-1 victory over their rivals in the Barclays Women's Super League on Friday evening.
The Canadian was also on the scoresheet in L4 against Manchester City in October but her contribution helped seal three points this time around.
On enjoying playing at Anfield, Smith told the BBC post-match: "I love it. To have my family here makes it 10 times better.
"[The first goal] was special, I think I brought out my individual quality there but also the connection I have with the girls in midfield. It just goes to show where that goal came from.
"I had my best friend from home, my mum, my sister, my dad [here] and some family friends as well."
Smith opened the scoring versus United with an individual run and finish after 42 minutes and dispatched a penalty in front of the Kop midway through the second half.
Those goals took her tally for her debut season at Liverpool to seven from 19 appearances, having arrived in the summer from Sporting CP.
"It definitely feels like home now, just starting to get comfortable and build my confidence," the 20-year-old continued. "Especially in this new formation, I get to bring out my qualities.
"Honestly it has been fun, going against top opponents is really good for me to improve and I can look back on these games and see what I can do better for the next match."

The win was a third straight victory for the Reds, who had overcome Crystal Palace and Arsenal heading into Friday's encounter.
Smith is enjoying the responsibilities given to her in the new set-up brought in by interim manager Amber Whiteley.
She said: "Now we're in a new formation and it allows us to bring our different qualities. We all feel good, the competition in training is really good."
