NewsGiorgi Mamardashvili nominated for 2024 Yachine Trophy
The Georgian goalkeeper is set to move to Liverpool from Valencia ahead of the 2025-26 season after the Reds reached an agreement for his transfer with the Spanish club last week.
And Mamardashvili, who will remain with Valencia this term, was on Wednesday named on the 10-man shortlist for the Yachine Trophy, which is awarded to the world’s best men’s goalkeeper at France Football’s annual Ballon d’Or ceremony.
The 23-year-old has been recognised for his fine performances for club and country, with Mamardashvili starring for Georgia as they reached the last 16 of Euro 2024.
He is joined on this year’s Yachine Trophy shortlist by Diogo Costa, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Gregor Kobel, Andriy Lunin, Mike Maignan, Emiliano Martinez, Unai Simon, Yann Sommer and Ronwen Williams.
The winner of the Yachine Trophy will be announced at the 2024 Ballon d’Or ceremony in Paris on Monday October 28.
