PhotosFoundation works near completion for Anfield Road Stand expansion
Foundation works have been continuing on site at the stadium in recent weeks and are now nearing completion.
Cores to the west, east and centre will provide the stability of the building, which is set to increase the capacity of Anfield by around 7,000 seats.
The new cores are lowered onto the steel that is protruding out of the foundations, as seen in the images below. The pictures show both the completed foundations and the exposed reinforcement cages ready for concrete to be poured.
Within the foundation, the holding down bolts for steelworks have been cast in; these must line up exactly with the holes in the base plate of the steel.
The steel will form the structure of the stand – which is anticipated to be ready for the 2023-24 season – and will be installed in the coming weeks.
