NewsFabinho wins Standard Chartered Men's Player of the Month award
Fabinho has been voted Liverpool's Standard Chartered Men's Player of the Month for January.
The No.3 claims the award for the first time this season after edging out fierce competition from Diogo Jota in a fan poll on Liverpoolfc.com.
The Brazilian featured in all six of the Reds' fixtures during the opening month of 2022, racking up four goals and a Player of the Match award.
Upon collecting the prize at the AXA Training Centre on Friday, Fabinho said: "It was a special month for me and for the team.
"Of course, everyone talks about my goals, it's not normal that I score five goals in seven or eight games, so it was a different month for me. But if I just help the team to get the wins, get the three points, I will always be happy.
"It's always special to play good football and be recognised by the fans. I thank the fans, everyone who voted for me. Hopefully the next month will be special as well."
After making his 100th Premier League appearance in the 2-2 draw at Chelsea, Fabinho scored twice in the Emirates FA Cup third-round victory over Shrewsbury Town at Anfield.
The 28-year-old was then the Reds' standout performer in the 3-0 triumph over Brentford at home, having opened the scoring with a clinical header.
He would finish the month with two successful trips to London, helping Liverpool beat Arsenal to secure a spot in the Carabao Cup final and then wrapping up a 3-1 win at Crystal Palace from the penalty spot.
Asked for the favourite of his goals during the month, Fabinho said: "Maybe the penalty I scored against Shrewsbury.
"It was my first penalty here at Liverpool during the game. It was a long time without shooting a penalty, so it was nice for me to score my first penalty in the Liverpool shirt."
