NewsEuropa League draw sets up Mac Allister brothers reunion
Friday's Europa League draw has thrown up a family subplot for Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister – who will be coming up against his brother.
Kevin Mac Allister currently plays for Union Saint-Gilloise in Belgium, one of the Reds’ three opponents for the group stage of the tournament.
Jürgen Klopp’s men are also set to face LASK of Austria and Toulouse of France, with their fixture schedule to begin on September 21.
The meetings with Union SG will see summer signing Mac Allister on the opposite side from elder brother Kevin, a defender with the Belgian club.
Like Alexis, Kevin was on the move ahead of 2023-24, switching to Union SG from Argentinos Juniors in his home country, and he started both ties as his new side overcame Lugano in the Europa League play-offs.
So, there will be bragging rights as well as points to be won when the brothers lock horns with their respective clubs in the months ahead.
