ClubAnnual Forever Reds golf day raises more than £44,000 for good causes
The annual Forever Reds charity golf day has raised more than £44,000, bringing the total raised by Liverpool FC’s former players association to more than £120,000 so far this season.
Surpassing the total from last year’s event, the special round of golf was held at the Royal Liverpool Golf Club in Hoylake, where fans had the opportunity to tee off with a club legend.
Taking part this year were chair of Forever Reds John Aldridge, Peter Crouch, Gary McAllister, Jay Spearing, Neil Mellor, Jim Beglin, Jason McAteer, David Thompson, Chris Kirkland, David James, Sander Westerveld and Martin Kelly. Not playing but supporting the event were John Barnes, Becky Easton, Mark Wright and Sammy Lee.
A total of 17 teams competed in the four-ball competition, with the winning team on the day featuring former Reds goalkeeper James.
The event was held ahead of LFC Foundation’s legends match at Anfield and included a day of competition followed by an evening reception auction, Q&A and three-course dinner in the clubhouse.

Aldridge said: “Our annual golf day is always a great event in support of Forever Reds and it was another impressive turnout with fantastic support. Thank you to everyone involved.
“It’s great to know we’ve been able to raise more money than last year. It’s been another successful season raising money for our former players and local charities. The money goes a long way in supporting important causes.”
Formed in 2018, the creation of Forever Reds was driven by the club’s desire to ensure former players always feel part of the LFC family – providing support, involving them in important work in the local community and keeping them informed of new developments.
Money raised also supports local charities, including recent beneficiaries Alder Hey Children’s Hospital and Zoe’s Place, alongside the care and medical treatment of former players who may need support.
