A senior member of the LFC International Academy (LFC IA) coaching team has returned to Liverpool following an action-packed schedule visiting two academy locations.

Daniel Gavin, LFC IA Programme Manager, undertook a gruelling trip which included visits to the LFC International Academies in both Hong Kong and Australia.

First up was LFC International Academy Hong Kong. First opened back in June 2018, the programme in Hong Kong has gone from strength-to-strength. Dan visited two venues during his time in the city, observing training sessions at both King’s Park Sports Ground and Tseung Kwan O Football Training Centre.

His time in Hong Kong also allowed him to spend some time with the LFC IA Hong Kong coaching staff, delivering coach education and sharing the latest best practice.

After a great few days in Hong Kong, Daniel then continued on to Australia, flying into Melbourne. LFC International Academy Australia has experienced a fantastic period of growth, expanding to have more than 1000 players and in excess of 100 coaches, operating out of 15 venues across five states.

Daniel visited five different venues while in Melbourne, observing the delivery of LFC International Academy coaching in each venue. In addition to this, Daniel spent time speaking to key members of staff at each venue, as well as delivering coach education to senior coaches.

Speaking about the impact Daniel had during his visit to Australia, LFC International Academy Australia General Manager, Rob Davey, said: “Our partnership with Liverpool FC is about connecting the club to community whether that be in the UK, Australia or elsewhere in the world. It is integral therefore that we are able to connect the club directly to our partner schools and the communities they serve. Having Daniel visit demonstrated the focus and passion that the club has in realising that connection.”

Reflecting on his trip, Daniel Gavin, said: “It was fantastic to visit our academies in Hong Kong and Australia. I was able to see sessions from U7-U16 while in Hong Kong and a real pleasure to see the players being coached the Liverpool Way.

“In Australia, it was a privilege to deliver a coach education day to our LFC IA coaches from all our locations in Australia and witness the fantastic work they are doing delivering an authentic LFC program.”
