LFC FoundationWorking Side By Side with Right To Play in Tanzania to use the power of sport and play to support female education opportunities
As part of our partnership with Right To Play we believe in a world of incredible possibilities for girls that can be unlocked through education.
Sport and play are both vehicles to encourage young girls to stay in school. By remaining in education young girls are provided with the confidence to succeed in life.
Our programme which launched in April 2023, was made possible by generous donations from the public including LFC Foundation’s supporters, and match funding from the UK government. Our aim is to support girls in primary schools across the Tarime and Serengeti districts to stay in school, enhancing their life skills and opportunities, and strengthening local community support for girls’ education.
Over the next three years, we’ll empower more girls across the Mara region, so they can rise above unequal treatment and challenge harmful and discriminatory practices that stand in the way of their success.
Last month, three members of our delivery team travelled to Tanzania to work Side By Side with Right To Play. We delivered sessions within schools based in rural villages in the Serengeti district, talking with pupils and teachers about equality and the importance of education for young girls.
James McCall, LFC Foundation's Employability Programme Manager, said “We were fortunate to experience the incredible work that the team in Tanzania have been delivering. Our partnership means that we’re standing Side By Side with Right To Play to support vulnerable children at home and away.”
“The importance of breaking down barriers for young girls to remain in education is significant. By supporting teachers and parents through play-based learning, we’re helping to contribute to a positive and supported education experience where young girls can learn to succeed.”
