The AXA Training Academy hosted students for a wonderful opportunity to gain their Leadership Skills Foundation Level 1.

Cohorts from our Onside and Global Works programmes have been working hard towards achieving their Leadership Skills Foundation Level 1. Last month, the students took part in a day of coaching local primary school children to put their knowledge into action and gain their qualification.

First-year Academy Scholars from LFC Men’s U18s were there to support the our Onside participants coach the primary school children with their warm-ups and sports activities in the morning.

In attendance, and taking part in the activities were former LFC Goalkeeper Chris Kirkland, former LFC Women's captain Tasha Dowie and the much-loved Mighty Red!

In the afternoon, it was the Academy Scholars' turn to coach the skills they acquired over the course to local primary school children. The LFCW U21s joined in the session teaching the kids alongside the Men's U18s to gain their Sports Leader Level 2 qualification.

This event was the first time LFC and LFCW academy scholars have come together to work with the LFC Foundation, unifying the bond between the two through engaging children in their communities.

Chloe and Bo, LFCW Academy Scholars, spoke about their time on the programme: "We started off our sports leader experience in a big group of us last year, it was really insightful and we gained the skills needed to be a good coach.

"I also feel like I have gained life skills such as being adaptable, communication, and it has offered me a range of opportunities."
