At the LFC Foundation, our inclusion department have built a longstanding relationship with Millstead School with the support of the Steve Morgan Foundation; It’s an amazing place full of wonderful
Over the past 5 years we have delivered fun sports sessions that are accessible for all of their pupils.
This year, 78 pupils have taken part in LFC Foundation’s kinball, football, sensory play, P.E. based curricular activities as well as attending Steve Morgan SEN Sports Festivals.
Their staff are a team of dedicated, passionate, and highly skilled practitioners who strive to make every day a joyful learning day for every pupil by helping to develop communication skills, promote wellbeing and increase independence.
As a school that caters for SEN young people, their outdoor space is multi-purpose which allows their pupils to socialise, access activities, meet the children’s sensory needs and most importantly to have fun.
Karen Gill, granddaughter of legendary LFC manager Bill Shankly, alongside her friend Christine Taylor, have committed to completing a 215-mile trek along the Transpenine trail in order to support their summer of fundraising and achieve the school’s goal of raising £150,000.
Karen said, “We were fortunate to be invited along to Millstead School in February where we were so impressed by the school and its staff”.
“Their dedication and the amazing atmosphere at the school empowered us to link our walk to the outdoor play area renovation project”.
Mathew Murphy, LFC Foundation’s Inclusion Programme Manager said, “We’ve been working with the teachers and students at Millstead School for 5 years and It’s an outstanding school with teachers who are experts in working with young people who have learning difficulties and complex autism.”
“Without support, young people with SEN or disabilities can often struggle to make academic progress. From working closely with Millstead School’s teachers I have seen first-hand how they ensure that each student’s education provisions are catered for and that every young person at the school is given the support to help them achieve their potential.”
“We’re proud to support Karen’s incredible fundraiser which will help to provide a much-needed refurbished outdoor space for their students.”
