LFC FoundationChampion of the Month: September 2024
Congratulations to our Champion of the Month for September 2024!
Erin was nominated for the award by Carmel Carey-Sheilds for her fantastic commitment towards the Creative Works programme.
Carmel said…
Erin is a young creative who is committed to succeeding in life. This commitment shone through during this programme, where she was often first to arrive and always eager to learn.
Creative Works Experience is an opportunity for participants to experience local creative industries and develop a network of creative contacts, The programme culminates in a network lunch which brings creatives together to connect and celebrate the arts.
The youngest on the programme, Erin presented a mature, proactive attitude and quickly became a key member of the group. Last year and while studying for her A levels, she coped with the death of her mum, who died with cancer at 47, Erin was only 17. The effect on their family, was devastating, yet Erin faced the bereavement with a resilience beyond her years, supporting her dad and sister and continuing to attend KGV college and study for her A - Levels.
Erin is a stalwart amongst her peers. Despite facing the loss of her mum, Erin maintains a positivity and cheerfulness that shines through and is infective. This programme enabled her to meet new people of a like mind, connect with creative industries and demonstrate her ability to be empathetic and support other less confident members of the group, which she did constantly. Erin demonstrated how her generous nature helped to others to develop more confidence and fell part of a social group.
She was nominated for her commitment which was clearly obvious throughout. During this programme Erin was expecting her results after a turbulent year of family bereavement. She gained her grades and achieved her first choice of Liverpool University. This was on the Thursday of the programme, yet Erin went the extra mile and joined the participants after collecting her results.
Other young people in the group benefitted from Erin's compassionate nature and were able to enjoy a positive experience because of her company and support. She hopes to gain a casual role here at LFC to help support her as she begins her studies. Erin has since gone on to settle into her student accommodation and began her course.
Congratulations to Erin and we cannot wait to see what the future holds for her!
