NewsYana Daniels extends stay with Liverpool FC Women
The Belgium international, now in her second spell with the Reds, spoke of her delight at prolonging her time on Merseyside in an interview with Liverpoolfc.com.
“I’m really pleased. I’ve been here a few years now, so this really feels like home. It’s nice to extend,” Daniels said at the AXA Melwood Training Centre.
“My first spell here was a bit short but it was great to come back. I have always liked Liverpool, the city, the people and the fans and it just feels like a family club – what I stand for. So it’s a nice feeling.”
Daniels initially joined Liverpool in 2018 and spent the 2018-19 season with the club, before a move to Bristol City, where she played under Matt Beard.
After two campaigns there, she was reunited with Beard on Merseyside and was part of the squad that won the 2021-22 FA Women’s Championship title.
Daniels then helped Liverpool to seventh- and fourth-placed finishes in the Barclays Women’s Super League, and the No.20 says Beard’s players will do everything in their power to continue their upward curve in the coming season.
She stated: “I don’t think many people would have thought we would finish fourth, so it is nice. We want to reach the Champions League one day, so we will just keep pushing now.”
Daniels is the third Red to pen fresh terms this week, following Leanne Kiernan and captain Niamh Fahey.
