Reaction‘We’ve got things to work on - but clean sheet is a step in the right direction’
Nothing could separate the two teams in the Premier League encounter on Saturday lunchtime, as both sides left Anfield with a point.
While disappointed not to deliver a win for the home crowd, Milner feels the Reds can take encouragement from the chances created against Graham Potter’s side and now registering back-to-back clean sheets.

On whether the result is 'frustrating'...
Obviously we always want to win our home games. We know the situation we're in at this moment and everything feels that bit more difficult. But we've got to stick together, keep working hard. I think it's pleasing obviously to get a clean sheet – that's where we need to start and get that base. You saw the fight from the boys out there and [we] had chances to win it. They had chances as well, so that's something we can tighten up on. But we had chances to win the game.
On the midfield battle...
It was tough. It was two teams that aren't obviously playing their best at this moment in time. I think that's where you have to win that battle. The pitch didn't make it overly easy to play as much as we would like, but also at times we could have made it easier for ourselves by maybe having an extra touch but also moving for each other a bit more – there weren't too many options at times. Again, that's something that we can work on. But we also had really good spells in the game as well. I thought we started the game pretty well and in the second half. There's things to work on but, like I said, a clean sheet is a step in the right direction.
On improving the team's form...
When you're in a tough period and a tough moment as a team, I think it's important that you stick together, you see the grit, determination and fight for those clean sheets – that's where it starts. They're not the best football matches that we're playing but it's small steps to getting where we know we can be. At this moment in time, it was a game that was important we didn't lose. We would have liked to have won it but it's pleasing that we did have the chances. We need to make steps and this is a small step in the right direction but we've obviously got a long way to go to where we want to be.
