FeatureWe Love You Liverpool: Meet Official LFC Supporters Club... Goa
The Reds' fanbase is famous for its passion and loyalty, cheering on both the men's and women's squads whether on Merseyside or watching from afar.
Our We Love You Liverpool feature aims to bring supporters closer together to learn more about each other wherever they are based around the globe.
Whether in the UK and Republic of Ireland, on Merseyside itself, in North or South America, Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia or elsewhere, fans provide the very foundations that the club is built on.
Here, we meet OLSC Goa...
Tell us about the OLSC…
I fell in love with Liverpool in 2001. Only 10 years later in 2011, a couple of friends and I started using social media to connect and bring together other Goan Reds like myself. We started in 2012 officially and were awarded OLSC status in 2015.
How special is it to have the supporters club where you are?
It's very special because we were the first supporters club in the state of Goa in India. To date, we're the most active supporters club even amongst other teams and we're only getting bigger and bigger.
It must give you a sense of community and connection to Liverpool and the club itself?
Indeed, it does create a sense of community and connection with the club and the city. We're always proud to immerse ourselves in the rich history and continue to grow the legacy.
Do you hold meet-ups for games, or any special events throughout the year?
Yes, we do organise events, watch parties and meet-ups which allow fans to come together and meet other supporters. A lot of the people in our lives we have met through the OLSC and the culture we have built for Liverpool fans here.
Has the OLSC ever visited Anfield?
Yes, several times. For us it's the eighth wonder of the world. The noise is glass-shattering, especially on those famous Champions League nights.
What is your favourite memory together as an OLSC?
At home it would have to be our Champions League final screening versus Tottenham. The tears of joy and the emotion was really high that night for everyone in attendance. At Anfield we travelled to watch Liverpool beat Manchester City 3-1 in our title-winning season. A few of our members even witnessed the 7-0 against Manchester United but beating City in our Premier League-winning campaign hit us differently.
Lastly, if anyone else is interested in joining your OLSC, how would they go about doing so?
They would just need to fill out a Google sheet for the OLSC (get in touch with us) and then we add them to our closed Facebook and WhatsApp groups.
