NewsVirgil van Dijk's message after Carabao Cup final defeat
Virgil van Dijk is confident Liverpool will produce a strong response after a 'difficult and disappointing' week.
The Reds suffered a 2-1 defeat in Sunday's Carabao Cup final with Newcastle United at Wembley.
Dan Burn and Alexander Isak netted either side of half-time for the Magpies, with Arne Slot's men unable to find another goal when Federico Chiesa halved the deficit in second-half stoppage time.
Van Dijk and his clubmates are next in action on Wednesday April 2 for the Anfield Merseyside derby with Everton in the Premier League.
The captain posted on Instagram: "First of all, congratulations to everyone at Newcastle United.
"It's been a difficult and disappointing week for us, and it's very hard for me to put it into words right now.
"Only thing I can say is that we want to bounce back, and we will! See you after the international break."
