Members of the Liverpool FC Women squad visited Alder Hey Children’s Hospital on Tuesday to spread some festive cheer ahead of Christmas.

Matt Beard’s Reds headed to the specialist base in West Derby, where hundreds of thousands of children and young people receive treatment and care each year.

Following up the visit from the men’s side on Monday, the players and backroom team met patients and their families, as well as Alder Hey staff, and delivered some LFC gifts.

“It puts a lot of things into perspective. All the families we have met today, we hope and wish them well,” said LFC Women captain Niamh Fahey.

“There’s a lot of families that need some support, so it’s just to say we’re here to support you as Liverpool Football Club as well, it’s important that people know that it’s not just on the pitch, it’s away from the pitch as well.

“They [the Alder Hey staff] are incredible, they do an amazing job and they are really heroes.”
