Liverpool U18s warmed up for the new season in style with a 6-1 friendly win over Leicester City at the Academy on Saturday afternoon.

In their final pre-season outing, Marc Bridge-Wilkinson's side put on a fine display.

Cody Pennington scored twice and other efforts came from Ben Doak, Trent Kone-Doherty, Lewis Koumas and an own goal.

Reflecting on the win, Bridge-Wilkinson told Liverpoolfc.com: "It was a nice performance, our best of the pre-season so far.

"It was a great way to warm up for the new season and all of the players – from the ones starting to coming off the bench – performed to a good level."

  • Liverpool U18s start their 2022-23 campaign next Saturday when they host Middlesbrough at the Academy - a game you can watch live on LFCTV and LFCTV GO, with kick-off set for 12.30pm BST.
