By Sam Williams
Former Liverpool forward Suarez revealed on Tuesday that he will play for his country for the final time when they take on Paraguay in Montevideo on Friday.
The legendary striker, now aged 37, debuted for La Celeste in February 2007 and has scored 69 goals in 142 matches on the international stage.
Nunez has been a Uruguay teammate of Suarez for the last five years and the current Reds player wrote on social media: “Thank you from the heart for everything you did for me in the national team, you were my idol without knowing you and you are even more so now that I know you.
“As you said, you came as a child and leave as a legend, it’s everyone's dream and you fulfilled it.”
