NewsTee off with a Liverpool FC legend at the annual Forever Reds golf day

Fans can tee off for a very special round with a former Liverpool player in their team and support the club's former players association, Forever Reds.

This year's event will be held on Friday March 21 ahead of LFC Foundation's legends match at Anfield. It includes a day of competition followed by an evening reception auction, former player Q&A and three-course dinner in the clubhouse, where prizes will be awarded to the winning teams.

Last season’s event featured chair of Forever Reds John Aldridge, alongside Dean Saunders, Bruce Grobbelaar, Gary McAllister, Jay Spearing, Neil Mellor, Jerzy Dudek, Jim Beglin, Jason McAteer, David Fairclough, Sammy Lee, John Barnes and Phil Thompson. It raised an impressive £37,000 to help support former players in need and local charities.

The creation of Forever Reds was driven by the club's desire to ensure former players always feel part of the LFC family – providing support, involving them in important work in the local community and keeping them informed of new developments.

It also raises money to pay for the care and medical treatment of former players who may need support – such as the late Ron Yeats, whose story can be read here.
