LFC WomenTaylor Hinds voted Standard Chartered Player of the Month

The 22-year-old defender was a starter in all three games in the month and scored a spectacular opening goal in the home victory over Coventry United Ladies.

Hinds was also part of a backline that delivered clean sheets in the league games against Coventry and Sunderland AFC Ladies that helped to establish a cushion for the Reds at the top of the FA Women’s Championship table.

The latest fan vote made it an impressive treble for the wing-back, who also scooped the award in November and December, a glowing tribute to her consistent quality throughout the season.

Accepting her Standard Chartered trophy, Hinds said: “I’m really delighted and hopefully it shows that the hard work on the training pitch is showing in the matches.

“Every day in training with the girls is competitive and you have to fight for your place in this team. Hopefully I’ve done that and the fans are seeing that in games too.

“It’s even more special to win three because it’s voted for by the fans so I hope they’re seeing consistency from me. I feel like I’m having my best season.”

That strike against Coventry with her right foot has had plenty of airings on social media ever since, and Hinds admits she’s had a few looks back herself.

“Honestly, I’ve watched it so many times!” she said. “It was definitely one of the best goals I’ve ever scored, so to do that for Liverpool in a game where we’ve kept a clean sheet too, it’s just an absolute bonus.”

Hinds feels even the Vitality Women’s FA Cup exit to Arsenal in late February will be a useful learning curve for the Reds.

“We want to be playing those sides week in, week out so to get that experience and seeing what we need to improve is really useful,” she added.

Matt Beard’s side have a tough run-in with back-to-back fixtures against Charlton Athletic Women coming up next, before a home meeting with Durham Women to round off March.

“London City last Sunday [a 1-1 draw] was a tough game and we all know the next few games will be just the same” said Hinds.

“But we’re just going to focus on ourselves. We’ve been doing well and we’re a calm side, which I think we need to show. It’s a hard month but also a really exciting one.”

The Reds sit seven points clear at the top of the Championship table ahead of the trip to Charlton this Sunday, before welcoming the same opponents to Prenton Park for the return fixture on Sunday March 20.
