NewsTaylor Hinds on start to the season: 'We know what we need to do better'
The Reds were denied three points in their first away game of the 2024-25 season when Riko Ueki netted an 85th-minute equaliser in Dagenham on Sunday.
Olivia Smith had given the visitors the lead with a brilliant first goal for the club, but Matt Beard's side were later pegged back and forced to settle for a second successive draw in the Barclays Women's Super League.
Speaking to reporters post-match, Hinds said: "I think we created a lot of chances in the first half. To concede later on in the game is really frustrating for us.
"It was really transitional. With games like that, it's really hard to get hold of and what we need to do better at when it's like that is [to] get a hold of the game and bring the momentum back on to us and try to create more opportunities to score and get those three points."
Liverpool can, however, be excited by goalscorer Smith's performance at Chigwell Construction Stadium in what was her second appearance since arriving from Sporting CP in the summer.
The Canada international curled a beautiful left-footed effort into the far corner after seven minutes to give her team a perfect start.
"I'm so happy for her," Hinds said of Smith. "She's a class player and she's a class girl as well, so [I'm] really happy. Hopefully there's more to come this season for her."
The Reds will look to deliver their first win of the campaign on Wednesday night when they kick off their Women's League Cup journey on the road against Manchester United.
With the schedule intensifying, Hinds believes every member of the squad will be needed in the coming weeks.
The vice-captain was encouraged by what she saw from the five players – Yana Daniels, Mia Enderby, Niamh Fahey, Leanne Kiernan and Sofie Lundgaard – who stepped off the bench in the second half at West Ham.
Hinds stated: "The girls that came on did brilliant and credit to them. They brought a bit more energy for us as well, which is exactly what we needed.
"It's obviously important now that we've got three games a week."
