The Reds equalled the Premier League's record winning scoreline on a memorable day in L4, with Roberto Firmino and Luis Diaz scoring braces.

Harvey Elliott, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Fabio Carvalho also got on the scoresheet as Jürgen Klopp's men recorded their first league win of the season in style.

That's more like it

That winning feeling is a sweet one, particularly after such a convincing and dominant display.

Liverpool are off and running in the 'W' column of the league standings, and the 'GD' section is looking healthy, too.

Any nerves heading into the fixture were near-enough dispatched after six super minutes. Diaz leapt tremendously and Elliott dazzled some more to put the hosts firmly in control.

In the ascendancy, the Reds continued to play brilliant football and could have added to the scoreline before Alexander-Arnold and Firmino's efforts.

The fifth arrived on the stroke of half-time as Klopp's team became the first Liverpool side to net five in the first half of a league fixture since 1958.

They weren't done, however.

An own goal made it 6-0 moments after the break, with Firmino, Carvalho and Diaz bagging in front of the Kop as the Reds ran rampant.

Pushes for a 10th were ultimately unsuccessful but this proved to be the biggest Premier League victory in the club's history.

Vintage Bobby

Firmino did what he does best – serving others – before scoring himself in a fabulous first-half showing.

All told, it took him just 31 minutes to produce a hat-trick of assists and add Liverpool's fourth goal.

He became the first player since February 2017 to be directly involved in four goals in the first half of a Premier League fixture.

And a brilliant day got even better for the Brazilian. His close-range finish in the 62nd minute was his 100th for the club.

A standing ovation was the least he deserved when withdrawn 20 minutes before the end.

Elite from Elliott

Two goals for Liverpool, and both of them are absolute beauties as well.

Elliott opened his Premier League account with a stunning curling effort from the edge of box to make it 2-0.

It was a sensational follow-up to his only other goal for the club – a wonderful volley on his comeback from injury against Cardiff City last season.

You would expect there's many more to come from this hugely exciting 19-year-old.

A scorer in our team

Not to be outdone, Alexander-Arnold produced his own thumper 22 minutes later.

His was arguably even better, firing off from fractionally further out but still finding the top of the far corner. Mark Travers had simply no chance in the Anfield Road goal.

The No.66's threatening delivery directly produced the sixth, though he won't be credited with an assist for it.

Chris Mepham was forced to deal with the whipped cross from the right. Had the Bournemouth defender not acted, Diaz was waiting to tap in.

A proud day

The feel-good factor in the day continued when three youngsters enjoyed moments they will never forget.

First, 17-year-old Stefan Bajcetic came off the bench in the 70th minute to make his competitive Liverpool debut and was assured in occupying a central-midfield role.

It wasn't too long before Carvalho, 19, was volleying and then wheeling away to celebrate scoring his first goal in a red shirt. The summer arrival from Fulham impressed in another outing from the bench.

And finally, Bobby Clark, also 17, was introduced for his senior bow in the closing stages to complete a good day for the Kirkby Academy, where the U18s had earlier beaten Manchester United 4-2.
