ClubSteven Gerrard: Forever Reds' Christmas lunch supports incredible causes
Gerrard will be joined by the likes of Ian Rush and John Aldridge at Anfield on Thursday December 15, with the event including a three-course meal, live Q&A, a limited-edition LFC souvenir for attendees and photo opportunities with the former players.
A special auction will also take place, featuring prizes such as a tickets and travel package for the Champions League last-16 second-leg meeting with Real Madrid in Spain and items signed by the current Liverpool squad.
Forever Reds, the club’s official former players association, will use the event to raise money for former players and to support those in need, while also making donations to other worthy causes via LFC Foundation.
Gerrard told Liverpoolfc.com: “I’m really looking forward to it. I was invited a couple of weeks after I came out of the Aston Villa job and put it in the diary straight away.
“[It’s an] opportunity to see some of the ex-players, to catch up with people I haven’t seen for a long time, to be around a lot of fans, but most importantly obviously to raise some cash for a couple of very important causes: Forever Reds and also the local communities and the LFC Foundation. It’ll be nice for me to play my part.
“It’s an incredible cause. With what’s been going on in the world the last few years, not just recently, [it’s an] opportunity for us to raise money and help people in need out – that’s the reason why I’m going.
“But at the same time I’m going to try to enjoy the event, mix with a few people, people I haven’t seen for a long time, and we’ll do everything we can to try to raise as much as we can.”
Thursday’s Christmas lunch at Anfield is strictly over-18s and tickets are available to purchase here.
