NewsSophie Roman Haug injury update
The Norway international requires a scan on an ankle issue sustained against Manchester City last time out and is not available for Sunday’s 2pm BST kick-off at St Helens Stadium.
Goalkeeper Teagan Micah also remains sidelined, while manager Matt Beard’s latest update on defender Grace Fisk suggested that this next game is likely to arrive too soon.
“Sophie is unavailable,” reported Beard at his pre-match press conference on Friday. “She got an ankle knock [on] Sunday. She is going for a scan today, it hasn’t settled down as we would have hoped.
“Teagan Micah is still unavailable. We’ve tried everything to bring in a goalkeeper on an emergency loan; our academy goalkeeper is away with England [U17s]. It’s not as easy as people think, to try to bring someone in.
“With Grace, this may be too soon for her this weekend. She has trained well, we just have to see how she has settled down. She has trained fully today, fully on Wednesday.
“Ceri [Holland] is available for selection as well, so we have got a little bit of light at the end of the tunnel with one or two of the issues we’ve had. It’s disappointing to lose Sophie, but that’s what you’ve got a squad for.”
Also asked about stopper Rachael Laws after a knock versus City, he added: “Lawsy is fine, it was just a coming together. Lawsy was brave, Bunny [Khadija Shaw] was brave and it was one of those things that happen.
“It’s just the impact and a bruise but Lawsy is fine, she’s good as gold.”
