NewsSofie Lundgaard signs new Liverpool FC Women contract
The Danish midfielder has become the latest member of Matt Beard's squad to commit their future to the club.
Shortly after putting pen to paper on her new deal at the AXA Melwood Training Centre on Friday, Lundgaard told Liverpoolfc.com: "I'm really happy and proud to extend my contract with Liverpool.
"I think it's a dream come true again and I really enjoy being here. It was really a no-brainer for me.
"It's unreal to be in Melwood, the facilities are so good and we have everything we need to perform on the pitch as well. I think that's great.
"I enjoy living in the city. I think it's really nice that everything is so close and we also have the water nearby. I enjoy my time here."
Lundgaard has made 31 competitive appearances for the Reds since arriving from Fortuna Hjorring in January 2023.
The 22-year-old is counting down the days to the new season, which begins at home to Leicester City this weekend, having returned to full fitness after her bright 2023-24 campaign was cut short due to injury.
She continued: "Last season I think the team did so well. So when Beardy gave me the chance to go in and perform, I think it was not really that hard because everyone was at the top performance level.
"The injury came in a really bad time for me – I mean an injury never comes in a good time – but especially [in] that period of time I was in good form and I really enjoyed playing again.
"I think I really have a motivation now to do well and come back into the team. I think I've had a good pre-season, so I'm just really excited to get started on Sunday."
