Respects paid at Anfield ahead of 35th Hillsborough anniversary
By Liverpool FC
Before Liverpool’s Premier League fixture against Crystal Palace began, the stadium paused to remember the 97 supporters who lost their lives as a result of the disaster at the FA Cup semi-final on April 15, 1989, with a minute of silence.
Ahead of the anniversary of Hillsborough on Monday, a ‘97’ mosaic was also formed on the Kop in honour of the children, women and men who died.
Players also wore black armbands for the game, and LFC chairman Tom Werner laid a wreath at Anfield’s Hillsborough Memorial earlier in the day.
