Those eligible for fan votes are:

Liverpool FC for Best Club of the Year

The Best Club award will celebrate professional football clubs that have shown commitment and application to improving the landscape of football for women while investing and working to improve participation and improve inclusion in the game over the last year.

Liverpool FC is shortlisted following the Reds’ return to the Barclays Women’s Super League in 2022, when they won the FA Women’s Championship title.

Matt Beard for Manager/Coach of the Year

This award recognises a manager or coach who has delivered excellence both on and off the pitch over the last 12 months. The winner will be a major advocate for women’s football who continuously supports the beautiful game.

Matt Beard has once again delivered great progress for the club since returning for a second period as manager in the summer of 2021 by leading the Reds back to the top flight. After consolidating last season, they are pushing for a top-four finish this term. In his first spell in charge, Beard guided the club to back-to-back WSL titles.

Liverpool FC and Expedia for Best Fan Engagement

This award is for the club that engages best with its fans. The judging panel will be looking for examples of innovation and creativity in how clubs interact and get fans of the women’s game better involved.

For two consecutive seasons, Expedia has offered free transport to supporters for all Liverpool FC Women away matches in the WSL.

Expedia launched the initiative last season, after Liverpool were promoted back to the WSL, and retained its commitment to transporting fans across the country for away games in the current campaign. The scheme has been a huge success and, at times of high demand, Expedia has laid on a second coach to allow even more fans to travel and support the Reds.

The following two awards will be decided by a judging panel of industry experts:

Natasha Dowie for Women’s Football Champion

The Women’s Football Champion Award will draw attention to the great work being done to advocate for the women’s game by people in the public eye.

This could be anyone working within the game, or someone off the pitch who never fails to use their platform to push for better inclusion and the advancement of the women’s game.

Natasha Dowie is Liverpool’s record WSL scorer, having netted 47 times in the top flight across two spells with the club. She also won two WSL titles with the Reds.

Off the pitch, Dowie is committed to women’s football and inspiring the next generation of players. In 2023, she became the first female ambassador of Liverpool FC.

Liverpool FC and Standard Chartered for Equality, Diversity & Inclusion

This award will be given to a business or organisation that is going above and beyond to promote women’s football and create lasting impact and positive change.

Liverpool FC and Standard Chartered joined forces to launch the ‘Play On’ initiative to inspire, empower and educate girls to participate in sport.

With its commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion, the partnership has given girls an equal opportunity to develop, enhance and test their sporting ability competitively, provided a platform for girls to learn life skills through play, increased the visibility of girls in football, and emphasised the importance of female role models mentoring girls in sport.

Winners will be revealed at a ceremony hosted by former England international Eni Aluko and Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher in London on May 30.

Launched in 2022, the Women’s Football Awards are Europe’s biggest event celebrating outstanding achievement in women’s football at all levels of the game, from grassroots to the elite.
