NewsRachael Laws signs new contract with Liverpool FC Women
The 33-year-old goalkeeper, a Barclays Women’s Super League champion with the Reds in 2013, has put pen to paper on a deal that sees her commit her immediate future to Matt Beard’s side.
A popular and instrumental figure across two spells with the Reds, Laws first joined on loan from Sunderland in 2013, making nine appearances to help Beard’s team clinch the WSL title.
She re-joined the club in 2020 having spent the previous two seasons with Reading, and played a key role as, under Beard, Liverpool secured promotion back to the WSL as FA Women’s Championship winners in 2021-22.
Laws then made 17 starts when Liverpool consolidated in the top flight in 2022-23, before making a further 19 appearances in all competitions last season as Beard’s side recorded an impressive fourth-placed finish.
Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com after penning her new deal, Laws said: “I’m buzzing, I’m absolutely buzzing! This club means so much to me and it’s like my second home.
“I’ve been here a long time now to know what the club means to myself, my family and my friends even. They are always asking, so to sign a new deal here means the world to me.”
Laws’ new deal sees her follow in the footsteps of teammate Lucy Parry, who has also committed her future to the Reds ahead of the 2024-25 campaign.
