Programme notes'Our new signings are settling in well - and unity is again key for us'

After winning two major trophies and going close to a quadruple last term, the Reds added Darwin Nunez, Fabio Carvalho and Calvin Ramsay to their squad during the summer.

And, while revealing that the new trio are already feeling at home on Merseyside, Klopp stated that unity is essential if his side are to repeat their challenge for major honours in 2022-23.

In his notes for the official matchday programme for tonight’s first home game of the season against Crystal Palace, the manager writes: “There are some new faces, of course, and they will all be seen. If not tonight then certainly as the season goes on.

“The big positive is they are already settling into their new surroundings, whether that be the club, the city or the dressing room.

“Liverpool is a welcoming city so it makes sense that we are a welcoming club. I know without even asking that our supporters will give their own special welcome whether the players have been here for a month or a decade.

“This kind of togetherness is as important now as it was when I first arrived and last season when we joined forces to campaign on all four fronts until the very last day. Talent and hard work were at the heart of everything we did and everything we achieved, but I have been in this game long enough to know that unity is every bit as important.

“Being one club – supporters and team on the same page – gives all of us so much. I don’t know if it is possible but imagine what it would be like if we could build on this even more. It is a big ask but we may as well give it a try.

“This is just the second game. There is so much football to be played and so many things will happen between now and the end of the season that it makes no sense to make any predictions. But what I can promise is that we will carry on working as hard as ever to be as good as we possibly can be.

“Even this does not guarantee success but it does give us a chance of being successful. It hasn’t worked too badly up to now either so let’s carry on.”
