MatchThe opposition lowdown: Nottingham Forest

Recent form

The hosts are in impressive form having won their last six Premier League fixtures in a row.

Forest last tasted defeat in the top division to Manchester City in early December, and have since overcome Manchester United, Aston Villa, Brentford, Tottenham Hotspur, Everton and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The run has seen them climb to third in the standings, sitting six points behind leaders Liverpool and level on points with Arsenal on 40 from 20 games, only trailing the Gunners on goal difference.

Ones to watch

Chris Wood has been Forest's danger man in front of goal so far this season.

The striker has netted on 12 occasions in the Premier League, recording one assist as well.

Morgan Gibbs-White has also proved to be a key source, producing four goals and three assists. Wide men Anthony Elanga (three goals and four assists) and Callum Hudson-Odoi (two goals and two assists) have also contributed in the final third.

Team news

Forest only have one current absentee in Ibrahim Sangare with a hamstring issue.

"We are assessing players that played all the [Luton Town] game, assessing players that are out," Nuno Espirito Santo told his pre-match press conference. "So, we prepare but [there are] not major issues."

What was said

Forest head coach Nuno

"It's not about the game, it's about the season and our strengths and our weaknesses. It's about realising what we can do and what we are capable of doing and what we can do really well. That we have to repeat and then take care of the weakness that we have and things that we have to develop.

"But the basic principle of our approach is always the same. What we want to be is eventually one day we want to sit down and say now we are a solid, compact team that doesn't give too much to our opponents, that is hard to break down and at the same time has quality on the ball and pace in attack.

"All of these things is the ideal. We are still chasing and working on that."

He added: "They [Liverpool] have shown not only in the Premier League but in Europe how good they are. It is about us realising this and facing the game with the true respect it is necessary to play against Liverpool."

Pre-match stats

Forest currently stand on 40 points, which is twice as many as they garnered last season at the same stage (20 games).

Forest's win at Wolves last time out in the Premier League saw them become the only team in the top flight this season to win six matches in a row.

Nuno was appointed as Forest boss in December 2023. In his 41 league games in charge so far, he has overseen 18 wins, 15 defeats and eight draws.

Forest have scored the opening goal in 16 of their 20 league games this season.

If the hosts win tonight, it would be only the third occasion that both of a team's first two defeats of a Premier League season have come against the same opponent (after Manchester United versus Chelsea in 1993-94 and Newcastle United against Liverpool in 2022-23).

Forest have won five of their last six Premier League home matches – which is more than they had in their previous 21 at the City Ground.
