MatchNottingham Forest v Liverpool: Team news
The striker provided the winning goal in the midweek victory over West Ham United at Anfield before being withdrawn shortly before the hour mark.
Speaking ahead of the trip to the City Ground, Jürgen Klopp revealed the Reds are checking on Nunez's condition for the contest.
"We have some players we need to have a closer look at again to see if we can bring them in again from the beginning or bring on," the manager told Liverpoolfc.com on Friday.
"It's really a short turnaround because we play tomorrow at 12.30, so we will see. I will wait for the last minute pretty much to make my final decisions. There are no 'injuries', but knocks here and there and I will get further information later today.
"[Nunez] is one of the cases where we need to have a look because he was not injured, but he felt something and I don't know if he feels that still today and what the medical department tells me then, we have to see."

The clash with Forest comes too soon for Naby Keita and Ibrahima Konate, with the plan for both to resume full team training from Monday.
Joel Matip 'needs a bit of time' in his recovery, while Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota and Arthur Melo are sidelined for longer periods.
Calvin Ramsay could continue to get minutes with the U21s after playing half an hour and scoring in the Papa Johns Trophy on Tuesday.
"Maybe it makes more sense, but it depends on the first-team squad how it looks there, that he gets more minutes with the U21s and we will see how we can organise that," Klopp said of Ramsay. "He is getting closer and closer."
Jordan Henderson is in line to captain Liverpool for the 250th time in all competitions.
Forest boss Steve Cooper, meanwhile, told the media on Thursday that Harry Toffolo and Lewis O'Brien are unavailable.
Toffolo sustained a hamstring injury during his team's goalless draw with Brighton & Hove Albion in midweek, while O'Brien is ill.
Serge Aurier and Orel Mangala started at the Amex Stadium, but Renan Lodi has not featured in Forest's last three Premier League games and Jack Colback, Moussa Niakhate and Omar Richards are longer-term absentees.
"Harry is injured. He's unfortunately picked up a hamstring injury, so that will rule him out for a little while," Cooper said.
"Orel and Serge, as I said after the [Brighton] game, have been out injured and were not ready to complete the 90 minutes and obviously with the amount of changes you can make now you can half-plan for certain changes.
"So they were in-game changes – some we were forced on, others we planned to do anyway and that's where we are at.
"But Lewis still hasn't recovered from his illness... and the longer-term injuries are where they are."
Cooper is a former Reds Academy coach, while Liverpool will also meet two other familiar faces at the City Ground, with Taiwo Awoniyi and Neco Williams now part of the Forest squad.
"It's a brilliant test," said Cooper. "These are the games the club has longed for, for so many years, and I think we should also remember that. I know we'll create a really good atmosphere, which is normal in our stadium anyway and that can help us on the day.
"We're just focusing on Liverpool, we're focusing on what it takes to do well in the game – we've got to really back that plan and commit to it."
