Loan watchNeco Williams scores twice for Fulham on Tuesday
The Liverpool loanee bagged his first goals of his loan spell for Marco Silva’s men, helping the Cottagers to an impressive 5-1 victory in Championship action.
The Wales international has made eight appearances for Fulham in total so far, grabbing a pair of assists before his two-goal haul in midweek.
The 20-year-old notched his first with a well-placed strike into the back of the net after a failed Swans clearance, before controlling cleverly with his chest to hit an impressive volley from outside the box for his second.
Williams’ efforts followed goals from Aleksandar Mitrovic, a Ben Cabango own goal and a Bobby Reid header, while Joel Piroe scored a consolation for Swansea following an earlier Ryan Manning red card.
“Fantastic, but he deserved it,” Fulham boss Silva said of Williams post-match. “He almost had an amazing goal last Saturday that showed his technical quality.
“His first goal was really important, he was the player to jump in the press, he wanted the ball, and he scored.
“And his second was fantastic. The way he received the ball and then it was a fantastic strike. He deserved it, and I have to congratulate him.”
Promotion-chasing Fulham now sit 14 points clear at the top of the Championship standings in their push for a return to the Premier League.
Elsewhere in the division, Nathaniel Phillips featured for second-placed AFC Bournemouth in a 1-1 draw with Peterborough United.
Ben Davies also played a role in Sheffield United’s emphatic 4-1 win over fellow play-off hopefuls Middlesbrough at Bramall Lane.
