Natasha Dowie expressed her pride at becoming the first female to appear in a Liverpool FC Legends game at Anfield.

Dowie made history on Saturday when she came off the bench during the first half of the 2-0 victory over Chelsea Legends in the annual LFC Foundation charity match.

Liverpool FC Women's all-time top scorer was grateful for the warm welcome she received from her teammates and the crowd of more than 58,000.

She told Liverpoolfc.com post-match: "Absolutely brilliant. Most importantly, we raised money for a great cause but we won the game.

"Lovely to get a runout myself and great to play in front of this crowd. Definitely a moment I won't forget.

"Brilliant to play with the likes of Steven Gerrard, and the boys have been great. As soon as I came into training last night they made me feel right at home, made me feel comfortable.

"Because it was quite a daunting thing, to be honest, stepping out there today as the only female.

"What about my first tackle? I thought I was going to get a red card straight away – a striker's tackle, that!"
